Luceti Town Meeting Cycle Year 5

Who: Everyone!
What: Town meeting
When: February 6th at 6 PM
Where: The school cafeteria
Summary: The village gets together for a town meeting. Let there be ideas, plans, and future festivities.
Rating:
With the help of some friends and friends of friends, the school cafeteria has been transformed into a meeting space. Rows of chairs and a few benches fill the space, providing adequate seating for whoever wishes to come to the meeting.

Along the back are some tables set with cookies, pastries, and tea, juice, and coffee for people to munch and sip on, before, during, and after the meeting

By the entrance is another table. On it sits a locked box with a slit on top, small sheets of blank paper, and a few pencils and pens. This is the message box, for anyone who wishes to express an idea or thought in an anonymous manner. The box will later be opened and all the messages inside will be read out loud by Ginia.

At the front sits a platform - one of the ones built for A Midsummer Night's Dream - with a table and chair resting on top. It's where Ginia will sit during the meeting, the extra height for the purpose of being able to see anyone who may be seated in the back row.

[The bright red jacket is the only thing that gives Lupin away as he sidles into the meeting and hangs in the background, intent on sipping his coke and listening with open ears and an even more open mind. With recent events still weighing heavy on his thoughts, he figures that this is as good a time as any to gauge how the community-at-large feels about things.

He doesn't know what to expect; he doesn't even really care. Though he makes his thoughts about Luceti no secret to those who ask, he's aware that others don't necessarily feel the same way. He won't ask too many questions. But he will listen. Closely.]

[With set up finished, a chair in the front saved by way of her coat, Adele wanders the gathering without much direction. When she sees a flash of red in the back she circumnavigates the crowd and sidles up next to him, glass of water in hand.]

Lupin.

You are feeling, [It takes a moment for her to choose a word. Even so she's not entirely satisfied with what she chooses.] better?

[Her approach wasn't entirely unexpected--they'd had repeated conversations recently, concerning the current affairs, his plans, and his general mental state. He smiles, as if nothing was wrong.]

I'm not the kind of guy you need to worry about Dellie.

['Better' was subjective. He was sober, and thinking clearly for the moment. It was an improvement, though he wouldn't say that everything was good.]

Brilliant, bored, angry. You are exactly the kind of guy I worry about Lupin.

[She kept her voice low, though she doubted there would be anyone listening in, better to be wary than to be stupid.]

...how is Jigen?

[There's a short laugh at this.] You make it sound like I'm a time bomb, Dellie! [Then, sotto voce:] He done better than I have this last week. We both decided we've had our fun. Don't worry about him either. He's a tough old dog!

I'm not entirely convinced that isn't true. [Still, for the moment, she'll let it be. It's not as though there would be anything she could say or do to change Lupin's course. All she can do is be ready for the aftermath.]

I am concerned for both of you...I'll tell you what I told Jigen. If he's injured when he returns, call me. No matter the hour.

I'll remember that, Doc. Don't you worry. [He's not going to worry anymore, just be on alert. Having others worry for him will only get in his way...

not to say that he isn't prepared for the worst. Goemon could be a frighteningly cold and thorough opponent if it came down to it, and who knew what the Malnosso would do to him? The three of them had fought before, and not even Jigen and Lupin tag teaming the ronin could take him down. They'd find a way to make it work, though. We've all taken our shots, stabs, burns...

[Remember when he was in that speedo, Dellie? Remember those bullet scars?] We'll be fine. All three of us.

It's not that I doubt you or your companions Lupin. That couldn't be farther from the truth. [She'd seen them, and recognized them for what they were. She's treated enough wounds to know what caused them, to know how much they hurt, how long it took to recover. It had been a turning point in her opinion of him. And were Lupin thus scarred, his companions most likely shared similar brands of their trade.

Adele dips her head, staring into her glass of water.] Consider it a professional courtesy. Of offer should you ever need it, for anything. Even so little as a hangover...No doubt. It is never doubt, Lupin.

...I'll remember that next time I'm in a pinch then, thanks. [Because there was no 'if' in his life on topics like these, only 'when.' It would likely happen regardless of whether he wanted it or not.

[Adele nods and finishes her water, turning to give Lupin's elbow a quick, reassuring squeeze before wandering back to the front of the room. For now there was nothing else she could do for him, or his friends.]

[The thing about hanging around in the background is it makes Grune think you're feeling shy and lonely.

And so, sorry to say, but your listening is about to be interrupted, Lupin.]

Hello, Arsene! Are you having a good time?

[A conversation with Grune? Never an interruption!]

I'm having as good a time as any, Grune-chan. Yourself?

Oh, yes, it's so nice to see everyone. [Because she doesn't visit half the room on a regular basis or anything.]

Have you had anything to eat yet?

Not yet; I only just got in. Is there anything good?

Oh, yes, I'm sure there is. After all, everything looks delicious!

Would you like me to get you something?

I'll go with you. I don't even know what's there!

[She starts ambling in the direction of the refreshments table.]

Hmm.... I think there are cookies and cupcakes. [Probably a safe bet, since, you know, she brought them.] And there are lots of nice things to drink, too. And maybe there are other things to eat.

[He follows, keeping a carefully polite difference so as to not anger any watching Fenimores.]

Cookies and cupcakes, huh? You like them?

[Good call, Lupin. There is a wild Fenimore lurking about, after all...!]

Oh, yes, they're very good. [Of course, having no sense of taste whatsoever, she thinks everything is good.]

Do you?

How can't I like them! [Especially if it meant having time to spend with a pretty woman in pleasant conversation, even if he did vow to be a gentleman!]

[Bad move. Grune stops dead to ponder this.]

Hmm.... I wonder.

[Oops. Lupin circles around to face her directly, bemused.]

It's not possible to dislike a cupcake, is it?

Do you think it is?

[Oh, it is. Just ask her boyfriend.]
