The setup for the party is pretty simple. Several coolers filled with ice for drinks (soda, bottled water, juice, assorted alcohol and mixers) with cups nearby, a food table with some cookies and cake from the bakery, two sandwich platters, some salads, fresh fruit, and a veggie platter. There's a grill going for roast vegetables, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, and fresh seafood, often run by Ginia but anyone else who wants to watch the grill or grill their own food is welcome to do so. People are also more than welcome to bring their own food and drinks. There's driftwood set up in a small firepit for once the sun goes down.

There are a few folding chairs and blankets spread out for anyone who wants to sit down as well as a card table or two.

Relax, meet new people, enjoy the food, and watch out for ghosts or shifts that might ruin your food.

((ooc: Handwaving the IC announcement of the party. Characters can still drop by even without checking in on the post (though that would be great for stats purposes). Feel free to say your character was there for set up and later take down, it's mostly handwaved unless people want to play things out.))

Rare if ya please. [Yeah, the rotting food shift was not that fun. He was getting sick of having to restock every other day.]

That it be, comin' up a year for me 'nd still donno half the folks here. Would think I didn't have an excuse for that, considerin' everything.

[Rare she can do. Ginia starts a mental timer as she types out a response.]

I hear you there. Year in December, and I maybe know 15 to 20 people in the village. Maybe meeting more people will my resolution for next year.

Meetin' 'nd stayin' on good terms with them should be my own. Second part 'lways a bit more difficult than the first. [Remy's grin made it a little hard to tell how much truth was behind that sentence.]

'nd most people I think heard the same questions that everyone really wants to ask them. 'Where ya from?', 'What's your home like?', 'You're a what?!'. That kinda stuff.

It can be hard getting past the "getting to know you" questions. And in a place like Luceti where people comes from different worlds, it's interesting but tiring.

[Ginia pauses to flip the steak over.]

Though that said, where are you from? I'm from a version of Earth, born in Davenport, Massachusetts.

New Orleans for myself, or a version of it at least. Though had been spendin' lot of time or late in New York state, for work.

Maybe we should have profiles in the journals, next to the welcome messages 'nd all. Cover all the basic questions so can just right past them when ya actually meet the person.

[Ginia laughs softly at the profile suggestion. Hey, it's a good idea. Would definitely answer a lot of questions. Who knows, maybe the new tablets on the back of the journal can do something like that.]

It's my greatest regret I never made it down to New Orleans. Heard it's a great place though.

[The steak is quickly flipped onto a plate and set aside.]

Give it another minute to rest and then it's all yours.

[Don't start him on home, Remy could talk hours about the Big Easy. He adored New Orleans, and considering how many places he had traveled to (including a random domed prison in who knows what universe) that spoke strongly for his love of the city.]

Ah, a real shame. Ain't no place like it that 've found. 'though, one of the filles from my world suggest we make the most of a Mardi Gras here. Was mostly talk, but did say if I lasted long 'nough 'round here to see next year that will think of it.

'nd hope our hosts don't go ruinin' it.

Won't say no to Mardi Gras. We could use more celebrations and parties around here. It'll be in February next year?

[Which if it is puts it in danger of any Valentine's Day hijinks the Malnosso might throw at them, but that doesn't mean fun can't be had.]

More or less. All these different time zones people be from makes it a little difficult to figure out 'n exact date, but sure we can work 'round something that fits in.

[And a valid point to keep in mind too, don't want to be mixing Mardi Gras partying with potential love madness.]

Won't be as grand as use to, but what fun be it if I can't educate a few boys 'nd girls of other worlds 'bout the greatness of New Orleans.

I'll hold you to that. At the very least, to try some new food. Place isn't bad, but the variety of food is lacking.
