The setup for the party is pretty simple. Several coolers filled with ice for drinks (soda, bottled water, juice, assorted alcohol and mixers) with cups nearby, a food table with some cookies and cake from the bakery, two sandwich platters, some salads, fresh fruit, and a veggie platter. There's a grill going for roast vegetables, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, and fresh seafood, often run by Ginia but anyone else who wants to watch the grill or grill their own food is welcome to do so. People are also more than welcome to bring their own food and drinks. There's driftwood set up in a small firepit for once the sun goes down.

There are a few folding chairs and blankets spread out for anyone who wants to sit down as well as a card table or two.

Relax, meet new people, enjoy the food, and watch out for ghosts or shifts that might ruin your food.

((ooc: Handwaving the IC announcement of the party. Characters can still drop by even without checking in on the post (though that would be great for stats purposes). Feel free to say your character was there for set up and later take down, it's mostly handwaved unless people want to play things out.))

/I don't have my throwing knives on me/ [only one knife at the moment and she's feeling pretty naked without more] /but we must compare sometime./ [Zevran, you're becoming her new favorite person.]

/Oh, truly? We can't have that./ [ Without missing a beat or showing much of how he'd hidden the strap on his forearm he reveals a small sheathe of throwing knives that he offers with a flourish. ]

/I have extra. Take it, as a token of affection./

[New. Favorite. Person. Ginia's face lights up as she takes the set of knives, taking one out to look at the design and balance. It's different than what she's used to and she gives it a slow flip into the air before catching it.]

/Thank you. They're beautiful. I see what you mean about the balance but it's still good./

/Crafted of the finest Antivan steel and brass, leather I tooled here. If you need them rewrapped or any other leather goods, please let me know. I'd be happy to make them for you./

/I may take up up on the offer for leather goods at a later time./

[But for now, Ginia takes the rest of the knives out and takes several steps back.]

/Throw an apple? I want to check my aim./

/As you wish./

[ He plucks up an uncarved apple and gives her a nod as he tosses it up, a high arc that would linger and offer the longest and best target available. ]

[Ginia watches the apple fly into the air, swiftly throwing one knife and catching it at the peak of its arc. As the apple tumbles, she throws two more knives. One sticks into the apple while the other shears off a chunk, knife tumbling into the sand. Eh, two out of three isn't bad.]

[ Zev looses a low whistle at that, it's most impressive. Especially since the balance is off as much as she had said. ]

/You are a remarkable woman indeed./

[Even as he gives a compliment, Ginia can't help but see the faults. Should have thrown faster, the third knife should have stuck, aim could have been better... but the arist was always the harshest critic. Ginia quickly retrieves the three knives and apple and smiles sheepishly.]

/The knives are good. The craftsmanship is amazing./

/once you adjust for the changes in balance? It should be a dead on hit every time./

[ He tosses a second apple in his hand, waiting. ]

/Once more? I am certain you can hit it twice./

[Ginia gives one of the knives another light toss and catch to reacquaint herself with the weight and how it falls. Trust her skills, follow through with the throw, trust the knife will go where she sends it. After more light contemplation, she nods. Throw.]

/And once more./

[ He tosses the apple in another high arc, watching her form. ]

[Ginia's eyes follow the apple up, hand already drawn back. She throws the knife as the apple reaches its peak, hand following through and grabbing the next knife and throwing in one smooth motion.]

[ Beautiful work, just as the first. It's not how he would throw them, having been taught differently, but the knives are true. ]

[From killer to glee in .5 seconds. When the apple hits the ground, both knives stuck close and solidly into the fruit, Ginia allows a happy smile.]

/I'll have to get you a set of throwing knives in return. A fair trade, don't you think?/

/The modern design is one I'm coming to love, but the classics, shall always have a space in my heart./

[ Murderess and glee are excellent looks for her. He has to appreciate the craft of a skilled killer as much as he can a lovely smile. ]

/A more than fair trade./

/Knives in my world are of two designs; practical or extravagant. I will always side toward practical, but there is a lack of elegance./

[Not that elegance really matters when it's buried in someone's throat or between the ribs. Craftsmanship, a lost art.

The two knives are retrieved from the apple and wiped out before returned to the sheath.]

/I will treasure these, thank you./

/I hope they shall serve you well in the time to come./

[ For as peaceful as the Village might be there are ever moments of battle that may fall upon them. It is best to be well armed and well trained for when, not if, the time comes. ]

/Perhaps you've the time or the inclination at another time we might spar? Training the boys is exercise enough but there is something to be said to going a few rounds with someone that knows what they are doing/

/It would be my pleasure and honor. I'm often at the B-A-T-T-L-E D-O-M-E in the mornings, we can also arrange a time as well. My schedule is a bit busier these days, but there's still some flexibility./

/Most mornings I spend hunting- it is difficult to feed a full house without some fresh game or fish, but I think, perhaps, once or twice a week as our schedules permit? I would not take more of your time than you have to spare. A rested mind is a dangerous mind, I was always told./

/We will make it work one way or another. It is always nice to spar with someone new. I promise not to damage your handsome face./

/Please. My husbands would be most distressed. Or amused. It is not often I have met someone that could bruise me./

[Husbands? Oh! Husbands. That's very endearing.]

/Whether I can or cannot bruise you remains to be seen. Direct combat isn't my strongest suit or style, but I have been working on that./

[Because why engage when you can simply snipe someone from the next building over?]

/I am more often engaged in attacking from the flank or the rear. Not many assassins take the front route, so it shall be excellent practice for the both of us./

/I've always preferred being in an entirely different building with a rifle or avoiding bloodshed entirely, but we don't always get what we want. The practice will be good./
