Movie Marathon!

Who: Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Arsene Lupin III, Ami Mizuno, Adele Leblanc, Leonardo, Gambit, and anyone else who has the desire to show up.
What: Star Wars Movie Marathon
When: February 21st to whenever its done
Where: Luke and Ben's place
Summary: Luke and Ben have decided to just end the constant cycle of confusion and actually WATCH the Star Wars movies. There is soda (gasp!) popcorn, canned tea, and all sorts of other movie related nonsense.
Rating: PG, same as the movies (Could get PG13? doubtful)

I may have also mentioned it to Rems. I'm sorry. [She wasn't not really, but at the same time she was, but. It had just been so funny and now she's giggling to herself just a little, something short and bright and it smooths the years off her better than any cosmetic ever could.]

"We met when I fell off of a roof. Surely that was an amusing anecdote as well?"

[He grins as he's speaking. No, no hard feelings. Just more snark.]

I told him that first, of course, but the soda anecdote followed. I still- [She covers her mouth and laughs into it, shaking her head as she tries to calm at least a little.] Your face. When I explained caffeine. You were so distraught over something so trivial.

"You made it sound as if I'd overdosed on Spice, at the time."

[Good. This is good. Laughter. Joking. More of that.]

...[No. No. Do not cross reference your science fiction. Do not. Don't do it, don't do it and she's leaning against the nearest stable surface, biting down on her hand to calm herself. She'd completely forgotten about Spice. She holds up a hand to Obi-wan, as though to ward him off for the moment, before she's able to calm herself enough to speak.]

It was not my intent, and I apologize if I frightened you at the time. I suppose there are some situations where the Spice must not flow.

[He will have no idea what she's talking about. And for some reason that makes her giggle all the more.]

[... But spice doesn't really flow. Except in that perhaps smugglers carry a steady stream of it to many underworld destinations. Did he miss something?]

[Stop it. Stop laughing. Quit it. He has no idea why this is hilarious to you, control yourself woman!]

I-i apologize. Give me a moment, please. [She rubs her face with her hands, taking deep, even breaths, in and out, without a tide here it's difficult to measure properly, but if she made a counterpoint between what her pulse was, and where she wanted it to be, she could find the right rhythm. It takes a little less than sixty seconds for her to come down from her giggle fit and offer Ben an apologetic smile.] As I said. Erratic.

"... I think perhaps you have not adequately muted the effects of the medication."

[Honestly. What. Just.]

Spice. It's also a fictional drug from a work of literature in my world. [She waves a hand vaguely and takes another beignet out of the basket.] A common phrase throughout the novel, if not all those that followed in the series was 'The Spice must flow.'

"... I see."

[A cultural reference. Perhaps he should have inferred that.]

"In any case, I've been sticking to tea since then."

Good, I do not think Luceti is quite ready to handle a hyper-caffeinated Jedi.

[A half smile, and she resumes nibbling on her beignet. At the moment she was utterly oblivious to a smudge of powdered sugar along her cheek bone.]

"I don't believe I am, either."

[Obi-Wan reaches out and gently brushes it off without really thinking about it.]

Seeing you like that once was enough. You were twice as quippy as usual- is that a word? Quip, to quip, one that quips, the quippier, quppiest, the qupippingest- [She stalls a bit, blinking at the brush on her cheek, mind sputtering to a confounded stop before she realizes. Right. Sugar. Carry on then.]

You were twice as sarcastic whilst over-caffineated. And smug.

"You didn't seem to have any difficulty keeping up."

[Have a smug grin.]

I had six older sisters. It was either keep up or be kicked out, really. Though more often than not Henri and I would team up; with three years between I and my next oldest sister, and but one between he and me, it was easier for us to work together.

[That certainly explained the wits and tenacity, at least.]

"The Jedi upbringing tends to eliminate family dynamics. Sometimes perhaps it is a disadvantage as much as it is an advantage, though it is obviously necessary in order to prevent dangerous emotional attachments from forming before we are prepared to handle them."

I would say you missed out, but you didn't. Even with a lack of a formal familial structure you still have older Jedi you look up to for advice and guidance, yes? And peers of your age group that you befriend or treat as rivals. I think all it is that you would have not enjoyed were the constant needling, threats, and pranks...[She smirks.]

You have not heard true horror until a woman thinks her entire spring line of clothing to be shown has been dyed neon pink.

"... Oh, believe me, there were pranks. None so destructive, mind, but there was a particular incident with a prospective knight's saber crystal..."

...Saber crystal?

[She blinks, frowns, and tries to think of a way for that phrase to make sense. Crystals and sabers. Sabers and crystals. She's still drawing a blank but- oh. Light, prisms, crystals. Lightsaber. It does make some kind of sense. Not much, but it does.]

"... Ah. Apologies. Yes. Lightsabers are made out of several components, but possibly the most important, and certainly the one with the most personal symbolism and significance, is the crystal. It is precisely that- a rare crystalline gemstone, resonant with and attuned to the force, through which the light that creates the beam is focused. Obviously, any laser must be focused through a lens of some sort, but this also creates a personal attunement with the lightsaber, more effectively bonding it to you. It is agreed by most Jedi that the lightsaber and the robes are our only true possessions, and that even the latter can be changed or disposed of if need be."

Jedi build their own lightsabers, and they have to find a crystal that is resonant with the Force, and with them, so as to simplify their addition of it to their body awareness. Yes? [If that much went into the saber...]

Do you weave and sew your own robes as well, then? Or is there a 'Jedi robe depot' in the temples?

"... In point of fact, we do not. Perhaps we should. Actually, there are many branches of the Jedi Order beyond the Knights, far less dramatic but no less important. The majority of the Jedi Order live in service to the Galaxy through other means, as administrators, agricultural analysts, doctors and medical professional, and, among other things, craftsmen. The latter craft our robes."

Jedi physicians? I suppose a good deal of my work would be much simpler if I were Force sensitive. The empathy would be more effective than asking 'on a rating of 'my joint creaks a bit' to 'my brain is full of bees' how much pain are you experiencing?'

[Because from 1 to 10 was arbitrary, and numbers were fluid when it came to physical pain.]

So you would not be able to demonstrate how to weave and sew one? Pity. [They seemed terribly comfortable, and were probably a good deal warmer for the voluminous nature of the robes.]

"... We may be able to find something similar in the clothing shop. I saw some other items that resembled variations upon the same general theme, though most were stiffer and likely meant for martial arts tournaments."

I never understood why they were starched quite like that. Do you not want to move easily when engaged in combat, even if it is a practice match? Then again they are loose enough, a great deal different than what most dancers wear when they practice, even if in both cases the form and stance are equally vital, though for completely different reasons.

I have no idea who makes Jedi robes, it's not mentioned on the wiki. ASSPULL ALERT.
