Summary: The Tales of Villains have banded together and plotting something devious that could threaten all of Luceti. It's up to the Tales of Heroes to find out what they're up to and put a stop to them!

Alexei had sent out messages to various members of Luceti about a disturbance just outside the village.

"To those who see this. There has been a large increase of monsters appearing outside the village and threatening the safety of this village. There's something odd about these monsters too, certainly none that I've seen here. I'm sending this out, requesting some assistance to remove these creatures before they bring harm to anyone. Currently, the monsters are holding their position on the east side of town. Please come and help if you can."

[Raven wandered over towards the east of the town, following the instructions in the message whilst wearing a more archer like attire. He was expecting to find people here, but he wasn't entirely sure what they would be up against.]

Ah! Nice ta see I'm not the only person who got the memo then!

[Cheria, who is wearing a neat white and blue nurse outfit, comes running after Asbel as he approaches the scene. She'd gotten a message as well, of course, but that didn't stop her from tagging with her treasured friend whom she's known since childhood.

If there are monsters threatening civilians, it's her solemn duty to protect the defenseless and heal the wounded.]

We're not too late, are we?

[Annd here comes Luca, dressed like any knight! He's not one to rest on his heels when there's people to protect - especially not when he has a best friend like Spada, who's likely not too far behind him - and thus, like the rest ~~of our motley party this is terrible~~ he's come along after getting the message.

...He's a little out of breath though. Armor isn't particularly heavy, but it isn't exactly a cool day. And it's not like it's his usual thing --]

Are... Are we?

[ And where Luca's concerned over punctuality, Spada's strolling in behind him like he's not one of the last to the party, all dressed up himself, goofy cap and all. ]

Don't think a few minutes are gonna make a difference anyway. [ He's sizing up this entire group, though. ] Man, must be some pretty strong monsters or a real pushover request if we got this big of a group.

[Oh, she recognizes Luca, at least. ...Wow, Luceti just loves to have people who don't act like they should be fighters take on that role. Then again, if Shiemi can be crouching moe hidden bamf then this shouldn't be so surprising.]

Just having a lot of us doesn't mean that we're going to be good at it.

[Raven takes a good look at the fellow villagers who'd received the notices too. He'll make sure to remember their faces at least.]

We'll be fine! And if not, we got plenty of people we can use as bait when it all goes wrong!

[Cheria just gives a loud gasp at that remark, covering her mouth with her hands. She knows Raven isn't serious, but...]

That's a terrible thing to say.

[You people and your new alternate outfits. I'll have you know Asbel is staying in his default outfit!!! After all, it is a knight outfit! The game said so! ~~Bullshit it's a knight outfit.~~

Although Cheria knows Raven's joking... Asbel doesn't. He's never been one to be very good at recognize jokes.]

Yeah, these monsters could be a serious threat to everyone's safety. That's why we need to stop them, right?

Luca's not good at recognizing jokes either, and he huffs at being called bait. He might not look the part, but he can definitely hold his own --!]

That's right. The whole village is counting on us. And with this big of a group, we'll be fine. I mean... I guess size doesn't matter, like Fenimore said, but we wouldn't have been called together if we weren't useful in some way, right?

'sides, how hard can it be with one of the best knights around?

[ Taking a few steps toward the Designated Fighting Arena™. ]

So what are we dealin' with?

[Fenimore looks somewhat less confident. She's not really supposed to be a Tales hero.]

I don't know. The letter didn't really --

[SUDDENLY BEARS

Well, not exactly. But the monster lumbering into view looks a bit like a deformed bear with Luceti wings. Of course, there isn't just one monster. It just looks like it on the overworld map.

(For reference, the monsters are intended to look like deformed versions of the filial people and local wildlife with the normal Luceti wings, but aren't specified more than that. Go wild making up whatever when the cutscene ends and the actual battle begins.)]

[Asbel was about to say something else, but when the monsters appeared, it was pointless.]

...I think we have our answer. [~~Fucking bears.~~ Asbel places his hand on his sword, drawing it.] Let's go!

[Great! Now things are about to get interesting! Looks like we have a few large bears called KYOBEARS and medium size cat monsters called MEOWZERS. There are about 8 vicious monsters total, enough to keep them busy.]

[Asbel feels invigorated with newfound power from Cheria's spell! He takes a step forward for his own attack.]

FENIMORE used INDIGNATION.

[...OH COME ON. That "keep old artes" option in the grade shop was useless! She should have bought base HP increase instead. Ugh. She's going to have to shut off the higher level artes for a while.]

[Everyone's using their artes...
