There and back again...
Who: Artemis and any close CR getting involved in the crazy train. Eventually Princess Tutu!
What: An intervention
When: Sunday
Where: CH5 Floor 4, primarily. Occasionally various encounters around town
Summary: Something's different about Artemis and her friends are starting to worry about her. But something's up that's not for them to fix.
Rating: PG-ish? Maybe PG-13 at the most.
[Action: Sunday, June 16]
[Artemis arrives back in Luceti Sunday morning looking tired and dirty and even more evasive and wary than when she'd left for the mission over a week before. Anyone intercepting her on the way home or at home is likely to get brushed off as quickly as possible as she locks herself in for a hot shower and several straight hours of uninterrupted sleep.
But even after some rest, Artemis is suspicious, defensive and decidedly close-lipped about what is obviously wrong. Even if she's not entirely sure what that might be herself. And if confronted enough times... for once, Artemis's first instinct is going to be flee rather than fight. At least at first...]

Do not be afraid. I am only here to help you.
no subject
She backs up a step, back closer to the shadows she'd just slipped out from.]
I don't need any help.
no subject
Even the strongest of hearts need help sometimes.
no subject
[It's every girl for herself after all. Hasn't that been the way it's always been? She'd been fooling herself if she'd thought differently.]
[She backed up another step, wary, braced for flight.]
I'm sure you'll find plenty of other people here willing to take you up on your offer, though. Go help one of them.
no subject
You are not yourself. Look into your heart. Is this really what you want? To be alone and unwilling to accept the help of others?
no subject
And what I want has nothing to do with it. It never does. Go away.
[And just in case the girl doesn't take the hint, she turns and starts off in the other direction herself. She still had her team to avoid, after all.]
no subject
That isn't true. What you want is always important, even if it doesn't coincide with what you must do. Please, talk to me. Tell me what is in your heart.

[The girl's following her and that sets all of Artemis's instincts on edge. She doesn't want to be followed, to be hunted. To be untrusted and accused is one thing, but this is something entirely different. Fear is suddenly a sickening, icy knot in her stomach and she brings up her small crossbow in instinctive reaction. Though she tries to hide it, her voice shakes when she speaks.]
Stay where you are. I don't want to be followed. I don't want to be helped. You're lying. They all are. Leave me alone, I don't want to hurt you.
no subject
But it wasn't going to be so easy. Tutu's eyes are kind, and her expression is resolute. ]
Don't you see? You are only hurting yourself. Surely you do not want to keep feeling this way.
no subject
Please leave me alone. You don't understand. I don't want to hurt you. I don't want... [She didn't want any of this. She'd thought this was over. The whispers, the suspicion, the doubt, the accusations. She was so tired of always feeling like she had something to prove, never being good enough. Terrified that that was some unreachable point. And she was never going to grasp it.]
Just leave me alone! [Her voice is hoarse, shaking, and her grip tightens instinctively, fingers curling into fists. She barely hears the trigger catch, release, the bolt fired. Her eyes are clenched shut as she curls in on herself, dropping the bow, huddling into a ball in the shadows.]
no subject
A terrible emotion, but necessary all the same. Tutu is about to speak of fear itself, but then the girl fires her bow. In an instant, Tutu barely has time to lift her fan across her body, duck low, and parry the arrow away. It works, though it leaves a dent in her fan and she has to stagger backwards to catch herself. Even as she does so gracefully, her breath catches. ]
I do understand. You are afraid, are you not? [ She's still barely breathing, but she tiptoes closer anyway, heart thundering in her chest. ] Please, you do not need to be afraid of me. This feeling that claims you is not your own. You cannot run from your fears!
no subject
So she could run. Or she could fight.]
You're right.
[The words are quiet, almost whispered, Artemis's voice still shaking. But she's tired of running. Her fingers curl around an arrow shaft a moment before she launches herself at the girl.]
