Movie Marathon!

Who: Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Arsene Lupin III, Ami Mizuno, Adele Leblanc, Leonardo, Gambit, and anyone else who has the desire to show up.
What: Star Wars Movie Marathon
When: February 21st to whenever its done
Where: Luke and Ben's place
Summary: Luke and Ben have decided to just end the constant cycle of confusion and actually WATCH the Star Wars movies. There is soda (gasp!) popcorn, canned tea, and all sorts of other movie related nonsense.
Rating: PG, same as the movies (Could get PG13? doubtful)

"... Do you know any way to mitigate the effects slightly, or else flush the medication from your system?"

[Don't mind him, he's just going to be doing a little empathic probing to see if he can help ease your nerves.]

Food typically helps. Something about the hormones released amidst digestion makes this mild. Though. If we flushed them out entirely I would have to watch the films from the next floor down.

[Muzzy as she is, Adele can't quite register everything that she's feeling, let alone an empathic connection. Still, beyond that drug induced veil there is anxiety. Fear. That same undercurrent of loneliness, though less than it used to be. And knotted up in all of that, over even frustration and guilt, was affection.]

[The affection is not relevant, but it's certainly touching.]

"Perhaps you should get something to eat, then. Not enough to nullify the effects too much, as you say. Just enough to help you relax."

[Did he perhaps put a touch of suggestion into the word relax? Did he perhaps attempt to empathically soothe the anxiety and fear a bit, just temporarily, just enough to make it a bit easier on her?

Hard to say, really. It certainly is not a dramatic or immediate enough effect to be noticeable.]

...You, Helios, and Ginia. Always feeding me, or telling me to eat. [She huffs a laugh, rubbing at her eyes.] M'Dieu, it is like visiting my sisters. They once tied me to a chair and forced me to eat until they were satisfied that I'd had enough.

[Still, she does wander over to where she'd set down the beingets and pulls one out, nibbling on it with a soft sigh. Not terrible. Not as good as the ones from the New Orleans chef, but not terrible. And. She didn't feel quite so tense anymore, for whatever reason.] And if you think that is a story fondly retold from my childhood? It is not. That happened two christmases ago.

"... That seems a touch excessive."

[Perhaps they were wrong, despite being well-meaning.

Maybe he was too.

...Not helpful.]

"I assure you, however, I have no intention of tying you down or forcing anything upon you."

My family, they always work best in extremes, yes? [She shrugs and finishes the last bite of her pastry.]

I would most certainly hope not. There are only a handful of ways tying someone down could be pleasant and I sincerely doubt you would know of any of the- I am going to stop talking now. [She buries her face in her hands.]

"In any case, let me know if there is anything I can do for you."

Tea? Coffee. Beignets go best with coffee, but. Wait. Erm. [One hand peels away from her face to hover mid air, fingers twitching, no tapping midair, a mental calculation with a physical gesture. A habit she thought she'd grown out of, but. Well. Like this? It came back.]

Yes coffee should be fine. The extra caffeine should lengthen the duration of the medication.

"We should have coffee, and Luke made a point of bringing caffeinated soda."

[He gives her a look when he says it. Who might possibly have given him the idea for that?]

...He asked how we met! It is not my fault you were so enthused by canned, caffeinated beverages!

I may have also mentioned it to Rems. I'm sorry. [She wasn't not really, but at the same time she was, but. It had just been so funny and now she's giggling to herself just a little, something short and bright and it smooths the years off her better than any cosmetic ever could.]

"We met when I fell off of a roof. Surely that was an amusing anecdote as well?"

[He grins as he's speaking. No, no hard feelings. Just more snark.]

I told him that first, of course, but the soda anecdote followed. I still- [She covers her mouth and laughs into it, shaking her head as she tries to calm at least a little.] Your face. When I explained caffeine. You were so distraught over something so trivial.

"You made it sound as if I'd overdosed on Spice, at the time."

[Good. This is good. Laughter. Joking. More of that.]

...[No. No. Do not cross reference your science fiction. Do not. Don't do it, don't do it and she's leaning against the nearest stable surface, biting down on her hand to calm herself. She'd completely forgotten about Spice. She holds up a hand to Obi-wan, as though to ward him off for the moment, before she's able to calm herself enough to speak.]

It was not my intent, and I apologize if I frightened you at the time. I suppose there are some situations where the Spice must not flow.

[He will have no idea what she's talking about. And for some reason that makes her giggle all the more.]

[... But spice doesn't really flow. Except in that perhaps smugglers carry a steady stream of it to many underworld destinations. Did he miss something?]

[Stop it. Stop laughing. Quit it. He has no idea why this is hilarious to you, control yourself woman!]

I-i apologize. Give me a moment, please. [She rubs her face with her hands, taking deep, even breaths, in and out, without a tide here it's difficult to measure properly, but if she made a counterpoint between what her pulse was, and where she wanted it to be, she could find the right rhythm. It takes a little less than sixty seconds for her to come down from her giggle fit and offer Ben an apologetic smile.] As I said. Erratic.

"... I think perhaps you have not adequately muted the effects of the medication."

[Honestly. What. Just.]

Spice. It's also a fictional drug from a work of literature in my world. [She waves a hand vaguely and takes another beignet out of the basket.] A common phrase throughout the novel, if not all those that followed in the series was 'The Spice must flow.'

"... I see."

[A cultural reference. Perhaps he should have inferred that.]

"In any case, I've been sticking to tea since then."

Good, I do not think Luceti is quite ready to handle a hyper-caffeinated Jedi.

[A half smile, and she resumes nibbling on her beignet. At the moment she was utterly oblivious to a smudge of powdered sugar along her cheek bone.]

"I don't believe I am, either."

[Obi-Wan reaches out and gently brushes it off without really thinking about it.]

Seeing you like that once was enough. You were twice as quippy as usual- is that a word? Quip, to quip, one that quips, the quippier, quppiest, the qupippingest- [She stalls a bit, blinking at the brush on her cheek, mind sputtering to a confounded stop before she realizes. Right. Sugar. Carry on then.]

You were twice as sarcastic whilst over-caffineated. And smug.

"You didn't seem to have any difficulty keeping up."

[Have a smug grin.]

I had six older sisters. It was either keep up or be kicked out, really. Though more often than not Henri and I would team up; with three years between I and my next oldest sister, and but one between he and me, it was easier for us to work together.

[That certainly explained the wits and tenacity, at least.]

"The Jedi upbringing tends to eliminate family dynamics. Sometimes perhaps it is a disadvantage as much as it is an advantage, though it is obviously necessary in order to prevent dangerous emotional attachments from forming before we are prepared to handle them."
